With today's modern PACS, there is still a need for routing. PACSwareŽ DICOM Router can be configured to perform "store and forward" routing of images sent into the application.  PACSwareŽ DICOM Router is extremely configurable and can be used to perform image compression/decompression over WAN, image duplication and fanout, as well as routing based on DICOM metadata in the input image stream.

PACSwareŽ DICOM Router provides the following benefits:

  • routing based on DICOM metadata in the image/study to be routed (including but not limited to, modality, body part, priority, requesting physician and referring physician)

  • routing based on time of day and/or study time

  • routes studies to multiple destinations based on configurable routing rules

  • able to route studies to any DICOM Storage provider

  • supports DICOM conformant lossless compression

  • supports DICOM conformant lossy JPEG/DCT compression

  • supports Pegasus wavelet compression

  • compression configurable on a route by route basis and depends on modality and body part

  • splits mammography studies into series based on laterality and view (for improved viewing station hanging protocols)
